Summary
Three stations will be set up around the classroom. Students will be creating their own Bee-Bot ruler and estimating the length of things around the classroom. They will race Bee-Bots by rolling a dice and programming it to move forward a number of spaces. They will also be using the Bee-Bot to draw and create patterns.
Estimating and Measuring with a Bee-Bot Ruler
- You will be measuring the length of objects around the classroom.
- Estimate the length of the following:
- Desk
- Table
- Ruler
- Book
- Whiteboard
- Sheet of paper
- Program the Bee-Bot to move the estimated length. A Bee-Bot moves 15cm with every step. Ask your teacher if you need help.

- How far did the Bee-Bot move? Compare your estimation with the object. Were you close?
Ladder Race
- Your teacher will have made a ladder race track for you and your friend to race in.
- Players will take turns rolling the dice and programming their Bee-Bot to move forward that number of spaces.
- Once your Bee-Bot reaches the end, it needs to turn around and race back to the start.
- First Bee-Bot to the end and then back to the start wins.
- Is it likely or unlikely you will roll a 3?
- What about rolling a 7?

Drawing with the Bee-Bot
- Attach the texta to the back of the Bee-Bot so the tip is touching the paper.
- Program the Bee-Bot to draw straight and curved lines.
- Move the Bee-Bot and program it to draw a circle. Create a circular pattern.
