Summary
Students will be writing an algorithm that will move the Bee-Bot from the starting point to the finishing point. They will also think and act like the Bee-Bot by responding and moving to instructions given to them.
Bee-Bot Worksheet Activities
- The Bee-Bot must now move within the grid. It can only respond to simple instructions like ↑ (forward), ↓ (backward), ← (turn left) and → (turn right).
- What instructions does the Bee-Bot need to get to the tree?
- Is there more than one answer?

- Now for the problems below. Write down the algorithm so that the Bee-Bot can reach the tree.
(Hint: Think about the direction the Bee-Bot is already facing.)

Challenge time!
Where will the Bee-Bot finish?

Acting as a Robot
- In your groups, one student will act as the robot. How does a robot move? What sounds do you think it makes?
- There will be a grid taped to the floor. Place an object (eg. Pencil, eraser, etc) inside the grid.
- One student will give instructions. Another will receive the instructions, move and act like a robot throughout the grid.
- Challenge: Follow the instructions given to retrieve the object and return to where you started.
Teachers may wish to print the worksheet below and have students move an object across the grid.
